We are seeking an experienced Community Engagement Assistant Director to join a Government Agency based at an EL1 equivalent. The Community Engagement Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring the proactive and strategic delivery of regional community and stakeholder engagement. In addition, you will:

  • .Assist with the strategic planning and leadership of community and sector engagement to enhance local capabilities for participation in the Scheme.
  • Assist with managing community expectations through regular and targeted engagement with stakeholders from both government and non-government sectors.
  • Work with other Agency staff, prioritising all office engagement and communications to align to business imperatives and manage risks associated with stakeholder relationships proactively and as they emerge over time.
  • Represent the Agency and contribute to national Agency policy outcomes through participation at local forums and negotiations with external agencies
  • Work closely with service providers to explain how to do business with the Agency, understand the impacts of the individualised funding reform, and engage on strategies to ensure choice and control and a client centred approach that is the foundation of the Scheme.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Possess communications and engagement experience, along with excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high work standards and accuracy. Experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • It is highly desirable that applicants have an understanding of or lived experience in the field of disability.

Entry Level checks will be required for all successful candidates and dependent on the role the appropriate working with children and/or vulnerable people checks may need to be undertaken as per State Legislation.
