You will engage in clinical practice as determined by the Head of Unit Ophthalmology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Providing day to day clinical care to inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of nominated consultants, you will work within the Ophthalmology Department and Theatre, with specific training in external disease and anterior segment. You will ensure a high standard of clinical practice by Resident Medical Officers attached to the Ophthalmology Department, as well as participating in the after hours on-call roster which includes the Women's and Children's Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The RAH is the major teaching hospital in South Australia, and the Ophthalmology Department sees in excess of 24,000 outpatients per annum. Ophthalmology is a high demand, busy service but a perfect environment for gaining skills required in anterior segment. This is a demanding position under the supervision of three senior corneal consultants, and independent theatre lists will ensure you maintain existing phaco skills.
Holding a MBBS or an equivalent degree, you will be registrable with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA). With demonstrated experience in phaco surgery and proven ability to operate unsupervised, you will have a proven track record in the supervision of junior medical staff and teaching medical staff. You will also possess skills in clinical database management and monitoring. Committed to fostering a working relationship with patients, their families and other staff, you will demonstrate courtesy, respect, consideration, empathy, honesty, openness, providing good service and promoting health.
