The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader Overhead Wire (OHW) & Transmission Lines (TL) to be a part of our Major Works team within Sydney Trains. Reporting to the Team Manager, this position plays a key role in the management of work allocation of a Traction team to assist in meeting agreed specifications and scope in accordance with Technical Maintenance Plans, Construction Standards and Infrastructure Engineering Manuals

Accountabilities include (not limited to):

1. Manage Working High Voltage Instructions and 1500v Authorities in the field.

2. Issue Electrical Permits and Operating Agreements.

3. Manage the relevant emergency response.

4. Ensure safety and transference of local knowledge and work specifications by managing the site specific induction of new appointees and contractors.

5. Assist team managers to develop team competency training plans to ensure requirements of the teams are met and develop the careers of individual team members.

6. Maintain the safe operation and security of the depot, equipment and resources assigned to your control and ensure efficient and effective use of those resources. Ensure safety of plant and equipment by arranging safety checks to be carried out and maintain records of inspection.

We are looking for a Team Leader OHW & TL who is competent to Level 4.1 of the Rail Traction stream and qualified as an authorised Traction Line worker, authorised Mains Operator and accredited to Protection Officer Level 2 or willing to obtain in 12 months’ time (PO2) and is in possession of a current driver’s license. In addition to these qualifications the ideal candidate will have a proficient understanding in Asset Explorer, have the ability to lead, manage and motivate a work team, have knowledge of scheduling, rostering and fatigue managements and has a high level of communication skills.
