About us
 
The Department of Justice delivers legal, court and supervision services to the people of NSW by managing courts and justice services, implementing programs to reduce crime and re-offending, managing custodial and community-based correctional services, protecting rights and community standards and advising on law reform and legal matters.
 
Custodial Corrections is a large part of Corrective Services NSW and is responsible for the management of approximately 11600 inmates in 36 correctional centres across NSW. Custodial Corrections is entrusted with ensuring the safe and secure management of inmates with a focus on the facilitation of programs and services to reduce re-offending thus enhancing community safety and confidence in the broader Justice system.
 
About the role
 
Reporting to the Assistant Commissioner, the Director Custodial Corrections (Metro East) will lead the delivery of Custodial Corrections services, programs and initiatives within a defined cluster of correctional centres ensuring effective and efficient utilisation of resources to meet expected operational outcomes. This role will be responsible for significant contribution in the development of the Custodial state-wide action plan and managing the implementation of identified strategic initiatives. This role will also be responsible for:

  • The financial, operational and administrative management of correctional centres within a given cluster comprising several correctional centres
  • Identifying and addressing opportunities for performance efficiencies within Custodial Corrections systems and ensuring state-wide consistency in operations where appropriate
  • Oversight the Cluster’s budget bids and financial performance in accordance with budget allocations

About you
 
An advanced ability to drive a continuous improvement agenda, define high level objectives and translate these into practical implementation strategies is essential in this role. The successful candidate will have the ability to apply strategic management of financial and budgetary compliance and governance and create a culture of achievement, fostering on-time and on-budget quality outcomes in the organisation.
