Enrolled Nurse required for a part time position on the 17 bed Aged Care rehabilitation ward and the 6 bed AACE secure unit (for patients who have dementia and/or acute delirium and behaviour issues). Nursing staff are expected to rotate between both units and will need excellent nursing assessment skills including managing deteriorating patients, falls risk and skin integrity assessments, and goal planning with patients with a rehabilitation focus. Knowledge and passion around looking after aged care patients and geriatric syndromes will be highly regarded.

The Prince of Wales Hospital is a major teaching hospital based in Sydney's eastern suburbs, that serves all of New South Wales.

We are affiliated with the University of NSW, one of the premier medical teaching facilities in Australia. This assists us to provide excellence in care in conjunction with our commitment to clinical teaching and medical research.

The hospital is situated close to the city, Bondi Beach, excellent shopping facilities, and within walking distance to Coogee Beach.

The Enrolled Nurse delivers high quality nursing care to patients/clients of the Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) consistent with SESLHD and POWH policies, procedures and standards.
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, and assists in the provision of nursing care.

Enrolled Nurses retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions. All Enrolled Nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by: NSW Health, The Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Prince of Wales Hospital

  • 1. Current registration as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • 2. Holds a Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia approved qualification in medicines administration, including satisfactory completion of the subject "Administer and monitor intravenous medication in the nursing environment."
  • 3. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers, other care providers, hospital clinicians, immediate team members and other stakeholders
  • 4. Supports working in a person centred environment
  • 5. Current professional practice knowledge base
  • 6. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems
  • 7. Knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Enrolled Nurse in applying these principles.
