About the role
As the Senior Legal Policy Officer, you will provide high level statutory interpretation skills and legal policy advice to support the review. This will include advice about existing Commonwealth and Victorian legislation relevant to assisted reproductive treatment in Victoria, and policy development and analysis of options for legislative change. The role will actively engage with key stakeholders on legislative matters relevant to the review.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Provide authoritative advice to the expert and the team on statutory interpretation and legal policy issues relevant to review.
- Undertake a legal analysis of submissions and verbal feedback to the consultation process.
- Play a leading role in supporting the reviewer to draft a preliminary report
- Actively participate in consultation process to support the review, including supporting the review to engage engaging with key internal and external stakeholders on matters of statutory interpretation and options for legislative reform.

- Excellent written communication skills
- Have a blend of legal and policy background - mandatory
- Demonstrated experience in the development and/or implementation of regulatory policy is highly desirable
