 About the Role:
 
EPA?s Metropolitan branch has an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated and organised individual to join a team responsible for regulating state significant road and rail infrastructure construction projects in the Sydney region.


In this role you will be an integral member of the team and will be responsible for monitoring infrastructure construction activities for compliance with Environment Protection Licences and legislation. Other key elements of the role include undertaking investigations into environmental incidents, recommending regulatory actions, attending community forums, providing advice to senior internal and external staff on environmental matters as well as providing valuable input into environmental assessment processes for state significant infrastructure proposals.

 
The successful candidate will rely on sound technical knowledge as well as excellent communication skills to recognise and resolve environmental issues as well as provide professional advice to the community, internal management and external stakeholders to ensure high quality environmental and community health outcomes are achieved.

Primary purpose of the role:
Undertake diverse day to day tasks relating to the environmental regulation of NSW public authorities and government infrastructure to minimise pollution impacts. This may include compliance, licensing, environmental assessment, pollution incident response, investigation, strategic projects and/or other regulatory activities, as determined by EPA operational priorities.

Essential requirements:
· Sound understanding of the relevant policies, practices and legislative requirements that govern the EPA?s operations.
· Knowledge and experience in of one or more environment protection areas, including: air, water, noise, waste, chemicals, hazardous materials, radiation & environmental planning.
· Knowledge and experience in applying current relevant environmental legislation, with demonstrated ability to interpret other environmental legislation.
· Current drivers licence
 
To be successful in the role, ideally you will have:
· Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, environmental engineering or environmental planning OR equivalent professional experience.
