Role Purpose/Context:
The Commercial and Technical Project Manager is responsible for facilitating renewable energy and energy storage project investments in South Australia, as a key means of maximising the economic development and job creation opportunities for the state associated with the decarbonisation of the global economy and supporting the State's transition to a secure, reliable, affordable and clean energy system. This is a uniquely positioned role that provides an interface between government and industry.
The Low Carbon Economy Unit was established in early 2016, with the objective of driving and coordinating cross portfolio action to maximise the economic opportunities from South Australia's ambition to decarbonise the state's economy. The unit develops and implements whole of Government industry development strategies, and works with industry to facilitate infrastructure investment and technology deployment to support the energy transition. Current areas of focus include renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen industry development, bioenergy, zero emission vehicles and battery supply chain development.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Strong business development and commercial understanding of renewable energy and energy storage project development
  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of the state's economic, energy and low carbon transition
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively to achieve collective outcomes
  • Ability to analyse complex issues in an independent way and with a logical approach, formulating solutions and preparing concise and comprehensive advice in both oral and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including proven ability to consult, liaise, influence and negotiate with internal/external stakeholder and develop a network of strategic alliances.
  • A high level of personal drive, professionalism and leadership capability, including the ability to manage highly sensitive issues with tact, discretion and strict confidentiality.

Essential/Desirable Qualifications: Relevant tertiary qualification or significant equivalent experience

Special Conditions:

  • Out of business hours work may be required. Some interstate, intrastate and overseas travel may be required
  • Participation in recovery activities relating to emergency management
  • A current driver's licence is desirable
