We are seeking a Registered Nurse for the Medical Imaging Department at the Prince of Wales Hospital. We offer an extensive orientation program supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Consultant. Our team is very supportive and will work with you during your orientation to the various imaging modalities such as CT, Angiography, MRI and Fluroscopy where you will gain many new skills. Our department is very diverse, and incorporates adult, paediatric and neonatal patients. You will learn to assist with a wide variety of Interventional procedures including biopsies, angiography, embolisations, biliary procedure and Interventional neuroradiology procedures such as coiling of cerebral aneurysms and carotid stenting. You will be orientated in assisting in anaesthetics, scrub, scout, cannulation, credentialed in accessing central venous access devices and contrast administration. We have competency based learning packages available and continuing education is encouraged. Fulltime roster during core business hours with shifts, occasional weekend shifts however no night duty. The successful applicant will also be required to participate in an on-call roster after hours providing 24/7 access to this service.

Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse/Midwife and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

  • 1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • 2. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  • 3. Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery and to guide others in providing service excellence.
  • 4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  • 5. Basic computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  • 6. Detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Registered Nurse in applying these principles.
  • 7. Demonstrated recent extensive post registration experience in an acute hospital setting.
  • 8. Ability to participate in an On Call roster.
