The opportunity
We have a rare opportunity for a Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 Project Director, to lead the definition and Final Business Case development for Stage 2 as part of the Parramatta Light Rail program, within Transport for NSW. Reporting to the PLR Program Director, this position is the key accountability and leadership role in achieving a Government investment decision and planning approvals for Stage 2 in line with defined scope, quality, time and budget requirements.

Skills and Experience Required;

  • Proven experience in developing and delivering large scale multiple complex projects, ideally related to Civil Engineering, urban renewal, road, light rail and / or construction projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise with collaborative problem solving of complex projects in complex environments, strategic approaches to project development, and developing affordable, value for money solutions
  • Ability to lead, motivate, encourage and inspire the development of a strong, effective, efficient, ethical and professional team with a clear focus on the delivery of planned outcomes and the continual development of the capabilities and capacities of individual team members.
  • Ability to resource, lead and manage multiple key inputs for the successful and timely completion of activities associated with land use and integrated planning disciplines of the development stage of a transport infrastructure project.

We are looking for a senior infrastructure or urban renewal leader who has proven expertise in Project Leadership, planning and procurement of complex projects and has experience in building productive, collaborative and cooperative relationships within the team and with a wide variety of stakeholders and service providers.

About us
Infrastructure and Services provides integrated planning, development, delivery of transport assets and operations of transport services that customers value. We transform strategy into seamless transport networks and services, efficiently and effectively.

The Parramatta Light Rail will connect Westmead to Parramatta and Carlingford via Camellia with a two-way light track 12 kilometres long. This will be the first stage of the Parramatta Light Rail project and is expected to open in 2023.

The route will link Parramatta’s CBD and train station to the Westmead Health precinct, Parramatta North Urban Transformation Program, the new Western Sydney Stadium, the Camellia Precinct, the new Powerhouse Museum and Riverside Theatres Cultural Hub, the private and social housing redevelopment at Telopea, Rosehill Gardens Racecourse and three Western Sydney University campuses. Planning of future stages is also being undertaken by the PLR Program.

Essential requirements
Tertiary qualifications in a Project Management, Civil Engineering, Built Environment, Construction, or Business Administration discipline from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent experience.
