About us
Tarrengower is a minimum security prison accommodating up to 72 female offenders and is situated 2 kms from Maldon in Central Victoria.
Tarrengower's emphasis is on release preparation and community reintegration through the provisions of programs within a rehabilitative environment. The facility emphasises the principles of a healthy prison where children can be accommodated with their mothers ensuring the family unit is maintained and developed.
About the role
As the Facilities and Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for the oversight of facility maintenance, departmentally funded projects and infrastructure upgrades to Tarrengower Prison and will oversee the day to day activities of various support and administration staff.
In the role, you will:
- plan and co-ordinate a range of refurbishments and other projects, including all procurement activity requirements, scope of works and Requests for Quotes (RFQ)
- plan and prioritise the day-to-day work and resource allocation and performance management of contractors and external suppliers
- supervise a small team in the quality delivery of refurbishment and maintenance projects
- ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff and visitors is maintained at all times during the projects, including management of all maintenance regarding the integrity of both external and internal security of the location
- monitor referrals, contracts and contractors under the departments Essential Safety Measures (ESM)
- prepare briefs, reports, service plans and recommendations on complex issues.
This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- experience in facility and asset management
- demonstrated experience in managing a multi-disciplinary business support/ administration team
- a good understanding of the prison environment and maintenance and procurement processes
- the ability to build a strong network of stakeholders both internally and externally
- demonstrated experience in developing strong relationships with managers and stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of service requirements and outcomes.
