BegaFixed Term Part Time
The Bega Valley Shire is located in the south-eastern corner of New South Wales. The Shire is comprised of a mix of countryside, coastal areas and dispersed towns and localities. Bega Valley Shire Council currently employs over 400 staff and delivers services to approximately 33,000 residents.
THE ROLE
Bega Valley Shire Council (Council) is seeking a motivated individual to help children grow and learn through helping to set up and deliver educational programs.
This is an identified Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander position, therefore, applicants must be of Aboriginal descent and identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait islander in their local community.
You will engage and communicate with families and children on a daily basis whilst ensuring you work cooperatively and flexibly within a team environment.
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking academic studies at vocational level.
- Assisting in providing early childhood education services by performing (but not limited to):
- Supporting and educating children within a centre
- Practising open communication and feedback with families about children’s programs, learning outcomes, health, well-being, safety and nutrition
- Participating in programming and projects
- Following established protocols and procedures for responding to child protection issues, health, hygiene and child well-being, including the provision of medication and first aid.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a motivated individual who is over 18 years of age and is passionate about engaging with local families in an education and care setting.
You will have the following knowledge, skills and attributes;
- Demonstrated broad interest in supporting young children, such as through their development, learning and formal education.
- Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Current NSW Working with Children Check and Criminal Record Check
- Confirmation of Aboriginality
This is a fixed term part time position working 16 hours per week. Remuneration is $669.40 per week (pro-rata) as per the Local Government (State) Award 2017, plus 9.5 % employer superannuation contribution.
