Agency overview
The Office of Local Government is focussed on strengthening the local government sector across NSW. The Office works collaboratively with the local government sector and other stakeholders to implement solutions that will support councils to deliver the services and infrastructure that their communities need, both now and into the future.

The Office is part of the Planning and Environment Cluster and located on the beautiful South Coast of NSW.

About the Role:
Provide guidance, advice and support to councils on best practice in governance and compliance with statutory and policy requirements.

• Assist with the design and delivery of policy initiatives and programs to strengthen the governance of councils
• Communicate and establish effective partnerships with councils and other key stakeholders
• Prepare correspondence, reports and related documentation as well as a range of administrative support services
 
Essential requirements:
• Appropriate tertiary qualifications or equivalent, relevant professional experience and training.
• Knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms of government, its operating environment and governing legislation.
• Knowledge and understanding of councils’ operating environment and the governing legislation.
 
To be successful in the role, ideally you will have:
• Experience with understanding and interpreting government legislation.
