We have an excellent opportunity to join a leading Federal Government Agency responsible for the development of service delivery policy and providiing access to social, health and other payments and service on a 12 month contract, based in Greenway, Canberra!
 
We are looking for an 15 Recommendation Officers(APS5) to work across the redress Recommendation Team, in the Institutional Redress Branch, which facilitates the recommendation process for the National Redress Scheme for Survivors of Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (the Scheme).
 
Key duties/tasks:
 
Recommendation Officers (RO5) will:
  • demonstrate empathy and understanding of the impact trauma can have on survivors.
  • communicate sensitively and effectively with survivors, and or their representative, in telephone and written communications, including communicating decisions.
  • have a good understanding of diversity, disability and disadvantage.
  • apply Scheme guidelines to information provided in applications and supporting documentation.
  • compile and draft Recommendation Reports.
  • generate official letters.
  • process applications, including data entry and reporting.
  • compile notifications to institutions.
  • work in close partnership with stakeholders to support the delivery of quality programmes and services
  • undertake research, analysis, integration and evaluation of technical information.
  • manage relationships and negotiate with survivors, or their representatives, in more complex matters, resolve escalated issues and refer these to appropriate service channels when necessary.
  • use the department’s community reach and access to deliver integrated and connected services that meet survivor needs.
  • maximise survivor and government outcomes.
  • make a difference by providing consistent, tailored and connected information to survivors
  • work in a multidisciplinary environment and work collaboratively with communications and wellbeing staff to achieve best results for survivors.
