The Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON) is a well respected, values-based Ombudsman scheme that provides all NSW energy and some water customers with independent, free, informal dispute resolution services.  We achieve fair and reasonable complaint outcomes for all parties; provide leading customer service and influence evolving energy and water public policy. We are not a consumer advocate, nor do we represent industry.
 
The new role of the Executive Officer reports directly to the Ombudsman and will work closely with her by providing high level strategic advice, building strategic networks, managing key stakeholder relationships, undertaking research and preparing speeches, reports and presentations.

The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Experience working at a senior level in supporting executive functions and processes for organisations similar to an Ombudsman’s office
  • A qualification in a related field, ongoing professional study will be favorably considered
  • Extensive experience working at a senior level in supporting executive functions and processes for organisations similar to an Ombudsman’s office
  • Experience in managing delivery of projects across an organisation / Project Management
  • Experience in managing relationships within a politically, commercially and publically sensitive environment
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting research and providing considered and expert reports, incisive views and innovative recommendations
  • Experience in presenting findings, briefings and papers to executive management, boards, parliamentary committees, or equivalent
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with a demonstrated ability to organise and present relevant data to suit various audiences
  • Highly developed conceptual and problem-solving skills, with an ability to consult widely to broker and build joint ownership of solutions
  • Sound knowledge of complaint handling practice, including dispute resolution and investigative methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret laws, codes and policies
  • Skill in writing articles and sensitive correspondence using plain English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to and influence a wide variety of stakeholders and audiences, and to exercise a high level of confidentiality and discretion
  • Highly developed computer literacy, in particular for Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint (Intermediate level)
