The Royal North Shore Hospital is offering the opportunity to join our Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit (MFMU) as a Sonographer. We invite applications for enthusiastic sonographers to join our team in a part time capacity. The MFMU is located within our Maternal Women’s Health Ambulatory Care services and is a discrete specialist ultrasound service. It caters for diverse and complex case mix of patients across the pregnancy spectrum. It services the hospital and patients within the LHD and is a Tertiary level referral centre for pregnancies with maternal or fetal complications. Sonographers work in close liaison with Obstetricians, Registrars and Specialist Midwives.

 

This position requires interaction with patients, their relatives, medical midwifery and nursing staff, as well as other support staff. The position also requires the skill to train others in ultrasound techniques.

 

The position is Permanent Part Time to commence between July - August 2018 and is classified as a Radiographer Level 3 Year 3/Cardiac Technologist Grade 2.

What you’ll be doing 

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit is a specialist multidisciplinary unit within Royal North Shore Hospital. It is a tertiary level referral centre for pregnancies with maternal or fetal complications. Sonographers work in close liaison with hospital medical officers and specialist midwives.

 

The Early Pregnancy Assessment Service provides care and support for women with problems in their early pregnancies. This position requires interaction with patients, their relatives, medical and nursing staff as well as other support staff. This position also requires the skills to train others in ultrasound techniques.


Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment. 

 

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  •  ASAR accredited Medical Sonographer with a post graduate degree in Sonography or qualifications or competencies deemed equivalent or hold either a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science in Diagnostic Radiography or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Radiation Science, current AHPRA registration and EPA Licence and an appropriate recognised and relevant postgraduate diploma. 
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional manner and a strong customer focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team within constraints of timeframes, whilst maintaining a high quality service.
  • Willingness to participate in Quality Improvement, Service development and evaluation activities as required.
  • Practical experience and competency in high quality Obstetric and Gynaecology ultrasound.
  • Demonstrated ability to support women and families though clinical situations when abnormalities and deviations from normal clinical pathways occur.
