We are a large and fully integrated infrastructure business chartered with a responsibility that is pivotal to the success of Queensland and its people. Our culture is one based around safety and performance.

We are looking for ambitious, passionate and professional Graduate Engineers to join our Network business.  Our Graduate Program will provide these Graduates with exposure to specialised fields of Engineering such as high voltage power systems, signalling control systems and computer and software systems.

The Opportunities

We are seeking graduates to fill a number of engineering roles across the following disciplines:

Electrical Engineers - Signalling & Telecommunications Systems:

  • Design, install, commission and maintain signalling and telecommunications systems which monitor and regulate the movement of rollingstock (trains) on our network infrastructure.

Electrical Engineers - High Voltage / Traction power:

  • Design, install, commission and maintain medium and high voltage electrical systems and networks which provide traction power to passenger trains.

Electrical / Software / Computer Engineers:

  • Develop/design, install, commission and maintain Train Control Systems, Power Control Systems, Tunnel Ventilation Systems, CCTV Monitoring, Passenger Information and Passenger Information Systems.

The successful candidates will be required to (but not limited to):

Support business-as-usual activities by conducting research and reporting tasks as directed by nominated Supervisor or Leaders.

  • Contribute to team-based initiatives, tasks and projects to achieve immediate and long term organisation objections.
  • Liaise with colleagues, mangers, customers and stakeholders as required to support the achievement of Network business objectives and tasks.
  • Attend and participate in mentoring and performance processes to continuously develop and improve skills, knowledge and capability.
  • Undertake additional activities as directed by Leaders and Management.

Annual salary (all disciplines): $62,300 plus super.

In addition to a generous superannuation scheme, Queensland Rail also offers free train travel to and from work on duty days and a healthy work/ life balance.

The Program

Graduates will rotate through a number of job placement rotations, all within Brisbane, over a two year Graduate program period. These rotations will provide our graduates with practical skills, knowledge and experience to complement their academic studies. 

Joining the Queensland Rail team will provide you with exposure to several high-profile major projects including system overhauls, maintenance and renewal projects and detailed design works. Our Graduates will have the opportunity to experience these projects first-hand and participate in research, design and implementation of rail infrastructure systems.

The positions offered through this program are permanent roles with Queensland Rail. On completion of the Graduate Program, Graduates will have the opportunity to apply for higher level positions as they become available or remain in their position.  Our Graduate Program will commence in September 2018 and is open to any interested party who has obtained one of the below Bachelor Degrees (qualification must be recognised within Australia). You must be able to commence a full-time role from September 2018 and have full working rights to apply for this role.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Engineering or Bachelor of Software Engineering
  • High level communications skills – written and verbal
  • High level of conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.
