We are a large and fully integrated infrastructure business chartered with a responsibility that is pivotal to the success of Queensland and its people. Our culture is one based around safety and performance.
Our Network Asset Management business has a permanent opportunity to join the Operational Systems Engineering team as a Software and Systems Engineer to provide expertise in the area of Operational Systems Engineering across software, database, configuration and hardware aspects of a diverse range of mission critical computer based systems, as used by Network Projects customers such as remote control, real time management and passenger information systems.
You will be involved in all parts of the Software and Hardware Development Lifecycles in the development and maintenance of computer based mission critical systems for Queensland Rail. These systems include Train Control, 25kV Overhead Control, CCTV, Tunnel Ventilation and Passenger Information and Entertainment systems.
You will need to interface with many parts of the Queensland Rail business including engineers, technicians and electricians, customer support staff and senior management.
This opportunity offers between $62,000 - $86,000 plus superannuation depending on experience. Our business is 24/7, much of our commissioning work is done outside normal hours and paid overtime is required. Once you have become more experienced in your role, you will be involved in our paid on-call roster to support our systems.
Key requirements include:
- Degree in Electrical or Computer Software/Systems Engineering
- C++, C#, Delphi or Modula-2 experience would be ideal but not essential
- Sound hardware knowledge (PC and Network Communication knowledge would be ideal)
- Ability to learn quickly
- Ability to communicate clearly and work well as part of a team
- Ability to organise work an plan time
