The role
Reporting to the Team Leader, Informatics, you will work within the Communicable Diseases Branch, ICT Portfolio Management Unit to produce software and provide technical support and advice across a range of large scale and business critical health information systems.
You will plan, design and develop high quality software components and products including forms, reports, database packages and adhoc SQL/PL/SQL scripts and assist the Database and Middleware Administrators to apply software promotions in to the Development environment.
You will conduct promotions into the Test, PAT/UAT and Production environments and will prepare status reports, specifications and project estimates for stakeholders. You will escalate issues affecting the unit information systems and assist with information technology service management of information systems.
In addition, you will liaise with users and other stakeholders (including vendors and partners) to effectively enhance application software.
The successful person
Utilising your Highly developed communication, negotiation and problem analysis skills, you will be able to demonstrate your recent successes in application software development and maintenance using Oracle software development products including Oracle Developer Suite and Oracle Discoverer and will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in this space predominantly in Oracle 9i databases
Ideally you will also have experience in managing SQL databases and will have experience other technologies as required such as Java, Oracle's ADF framework, C# and ASP.NET.
You will have extensive knowledge of software development practices and programming techniques and a background in providing a high level of commitment to continuous improvement and producing quality ICT products. You will enjoy analysis and problem solving as well as working within a fast paced environment with strict deadlines.
You will also thrive within a multidisciplinary team and will have proven experience in building and maintaining consultative relationships and effectively negotiating with stakeholders.
