The Position

CSIRO Agriculture and Food is seeking to appoint a research technician for their Cotton Breeding area.

In this role you will be working specifically in the quality assurance area of the breeding program. You will be an important team member as well as work independently in the breeding support team to develop enhanced new varieties suitable for all cotton growing regions of Australia.

Your duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and coordinate the laboratory component of the quality assurance (QA) program associated with the cotton breeding program.
  • Maintain and update all analytical work procedures as required
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analysis and developing and maintaining all Safe Work Instructions for laboratory instruments and tasks.

Location: Myall Vale NSW
Salary: $61K - $78K plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Indefinite / Ongoing

To be successful you will need:

  • A relevant science based degree or equivalent experience.
  • A current driver’s license
  • Demonstrated experience in general laboratory tasks, particularly those related to a molecular biology laboratory.
  • Demonstrated experience with PC2 laboratory certification and the understanding or ability in maintaining certification.
