About the team
The Penrith City Library Service provides informational, educational and recreational resources and services for residents and visitors through three branch libraries, community events and pop-up libraries, Children’s Services, e-Resources, Research Services (local history), Home Library Service and Community Toy Library.
About the role
You will contribute to the achievement of Library goals and objectives, by providing a professional, efficient, courteous service for the public. To undertake research using archival and historical resources. To demonstrate proficiency using digital resources and equipment. To participate in library outreach programs and public events. This role includes a direct customer service component on the Library Customer Service desk.
We are looking for 2 permanent part-time and 2 temporary part-time (for up to 9 months) Librarian/Senior Library Technician (17.5hrs pw) to commence immediately. The positions will include weekend and night shifts across three Library branches.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant Degree/Graduate Diploma qualification with eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association [or] Diploma of Library / Information Services [TAFE], or equivalents
- Effective communication skills to assist a broad range of age groups and skill levels for information enquiries and technology assistance.
- Demonstrated online database and digital app skills
- Demonstrated skills using library systems and equipment
- Flexibility to work rostered shifts across seven days, including evening and weekend hours
- Demonstrated ability to supervise service desk operations during rostered shifts
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
Desirable
- Public Library experience
Commencing Salary: $62,224.24 - $71,340.36 pa (pro-rata for part time), plus 9.5% superannuation
