Permanent, Full - Time Position

Salary Range = $68,455.08 - $86,404.36/- per annum (subject to skills and experience)

The Business Unit

The Children’s Services Business Unit provides high quality child education and care services. This Group provides care and education for children aged between six weeks and twelve years, in accordance with all relevant legislation. They do this through delivering Long Day Care, Pre-school, Family Day Care, Vacation Care and Occasional Care Services to our community.

The Role and Responsibilities

Working within a team environment and reporting to the Children’s

Services Director, the role of our Early Childhood Teachers is to:

·         Provide and promote a healthy, safe and enriching environment that provides high quality care and education for children aged between six weeks and six years in accordance with ACECQA (The Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority), the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, Code of Ethics and other relevant legislation and governing bodies, Service and Centre Philosophy, Policies and Procedures.

·         Lead, manage, motivate and support a small team within the Children’s Centre

·         Provide an effective link between centre room staff and the Centre Director.

·         Design and deliver high quality care and educational programs, ensuring a supportive, stimulating and educational environment for the children. Assume overall responsibility for the planning, implementation and evaluation of individual programs for children within the room

·         Ensure that programs are based on children’s interests, and take into account anti-bias and cross-cultural perspectives

·         Collaborate and liaise with the educational leader and other staff to ensure continual improvement of the curriculum

·         Ensure consistency and continuity of the curriculum, provision of care, behaviour strategies and Centre philosophy across the Service

Selection Criteria

·         Bachelor / Degree or Diploma of Education / Teaching (Early Childhood) or its equivalent as approved by the Department of Community Services

·         Knowledge of Education and Care Services National Regulations 2016

·         Sound knowledge of child development 0 - 6 years

·         High level of skill in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate (needs and interest based) programs for the children in the Centre’s care

·         Experience in planning for children with additional needs

·         Ability to implement the National Quality Framework
