About the role
This role provides operational Health, Safety and Environment support in the project delivery and contractor management space with specific emphasis on the implementation and maintenance of VicTrack’s integrated (Rail, OHS and Environmental) Safety Management System (SMS).
About right candidate
You will have a depth of experience in a similar role providing leadership in driving the HSE culture with emphasis on project delivery and contract management (rail operators and construction). Ability to provide advice and support to project managers on HSE requirements for all stages of the project life cycle.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Safety;
- OHS Construction Induction;
- Lead Audit competency;
- Safety Investigations (ICAM or equivalent);
- Safety Accessing the Rail Corridor.
Knowledge & Experience
- Significant relevant experience in high risk construction or engineering (rail) environment, or rail operational experience;
- Act as a strategic change agent to deliver and drive change across the business in the HSE space.
- Managing risks within rail corridor and operational rail environment;
- The safe delivery of infrastructure projects;
- Managing risks associated with complex engineering environments; and
- Developing and maintaining safety management systems.
Skills
- Experienced in managing safety and risk (assessment and profiling) requirements on major engineering and construction projects (i.e. rail infrastructure);
- Change Management
- Ability to influence others;
- Project Management skills;
- Results orientation;
- A track record of working effectively with industry and project contractors;
- Knowledge of technical safety requirements in a rail/transport/construction/project setting;
- Understanding and application of procurement models, commercial structures and negotiation strategies;
- Working knowledge of OH&S Legislation, Regulations and Codes of Practice, Quality Standards, Environmental legislation and other associated legislative requirements;
- Working knowledge of Rail Safety National Laws;
- Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders;
- Working knowledge of contract delivery models;
- Excellent organisational skills and the demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities and demands; and
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
