About the role:

We are seeking a motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the Custodial Health Service Pharmacy Department. The Department sits within the Custody Management Division, State Emergencies and Support Command. The position is vital to the efficient functioning of the Pharmacy and the Custodial Health Service. The Custodial Health Service provides health care to prisoners held in Police Custody located at The Melbourne Custody Centre, all metropolitan and local rural police gaols.

  • VPS Grade 2 - $50,828 - $65,272 pro rata* + super + leave loading
  • Ongoing - Full Time position / *part time negotiable.
  • Your usual place of work will be the Custodial Health Service located at the Melbourne Custody Centre, 520 Lonsdale Street.

Your duties will include:

  • Performing a broad range of dispensary functions to support the provision of pharmaceutical services to detainees in police custody.
  • Undertake pharmaceutical preparations under the pharmacist's supervision.
  • Assist the pharmacist with managing stock levels at Melbourne Custody Centre and at Police Stations.
  • Deliver necessary medication to Police Stations when required.
  • Ensure all relevant medical records are maintained.
  • Provide general administrative support to the pharmacist.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement activities.

As the successful applicant you will have:

  • Minimum of Certificate III in hospital health services or equivalent qualifications.
  • Ability/Demonstrated experience in performing a range of dispensary services; including preparation and dispensing of Webster packs (DAAs).
  • Ability/Experience in stock management including maintenance of inventory recording and monitoring systems.
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision, displaying problem solving skills and the ability to undertake a number of activities within acceptable timeframes.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise with senior police members, external agencies and other personnel.
  • An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
  • Possess a current Victorian Driver Licence.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The incumbent will be required to complete the OHS requirements of the organisation, which may include local level training relating to equipment usage and Hazardous Chemicals.
