In regional Victoria, VicRoads is an essential service, acting as a lifeline for communities. VicRoads is looking for an experienced media and content creator to join our regional team.
About the role
This is an exciting role set in regional Victoria to develop media relationships and build VicRoads’ brand. The role will be responsible for developing internal VicRoads relationships to find compelling and proactive stories for the local media. The position will also be responsible for implementing media strategies, engaging with key media outlets and responding to media requests.
The role needs an energetic, enthusiastic media professional with experience in Journalism or broadcast production.
The role will report directly to the Media Manager – Regional and Rural Victoria within the Media team.
This is a 24 month fixed term position.
You will:
- Present end-to-end media opportunities for VicRoads in regional Victoria
- Respond to emerging and critical internal and external media issues for their region
- Provide specialist counsel to senior stakeholders within the region
- Identify and proactively create stories to be delivered to the media in the region
- Create responses and content suitable to a range of media, including social, broadcast and print.
- Be responsible for developing local relationships with media outlets to ensure VicRoads brand integrity
- Demonstrated experience in media or journalism
- Demonstrated ability to create content and or respond to media queries with accuracy and insight
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and a hunger to be engaged in the media space
- Appreciation of the role of social media in communications is highly desired
