 Deputy General Manager – Security

About You

You are an energetic leader, with a security minded disposition which allows you to analyse and assess risk and implement appropriate corrective action. You thrive on being able to lead and manage the operations of a Security team to deliver high standards of security results. Your background in a similar contract environment or federal department gives you an in-depth understanding of what needs to occurs to ensure the centre operates smoothly and securely.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the role of the Deputy General Manager Security is to lead and manage the operations of the Security team to deliver high standards of dynamic, static and procedural security outcomes. The Deputy General Manager Security will also ensure that centre security processes are adhered to at all times through audit processes and managerial inspections.

This role is responsible for the leadership, development and engagement of the Security Team and site based ERT staff members.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Security Operations and / or Risk Management
  • Maintain mandatory operator qualifications such as Australian Federal Police clearance, Working with Children Check, First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact at all levels
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships with all stakeholders, particularly with diverse teams in challenging environments 
  • High level of resilience and the ability to remain level-headed and objective in high stress situations
  • Strong personal integrity and personal values consistent with Serco’s values
  • Innovative and uses initiative when problem solving
  • Proven experience in Conflict, Incident management and resolution
  • Posses strong and robust mediation and de-escalation skills 
  • Risk management - Ensure appropriate measures are undertaken through the initiation of controls to eliminate or reduce the level of risk within their area of control.
  • Demonstrates sound computer literacy and use technology specific to the environment, such as Serco Care Manager
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of security equipment and software systems

Desirable

  • Degree in Management and Leadership
  • Degree in Security Studies / Criminology
  • Master of Business Administration
