The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
Reporting to the Team Leader, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the management of health practitioners and students with restrictions on their registration by monitoring the practitioners and their compliance with the restrictions. The role is critical in ensuring the National Boards are supported in their primary role of protecting the public. An ability to identify risk, deal with ambiguity, attention to detail, ability to maintain focus and juggle multiple tasks at once as well as best practice administration skills are imperative to effective performance in this position.
These roles are full time for a 12 month fixed term contract.
In this role you will:
- Identify areas of actual and/or potential risk in terms of non compliance with restrictions in order to ensure effective protection of the public
- Develop , implement and maintain a monitoring schedule (including due dates and the frequency of activities) for registrants with restrictions
- Communicate and correspond with the registrant, treating practitioners, and other relevant bodies
- Ensure records management systems are kept up to date with all relevant information, including maintaining all compliance records and correspondence
- Provide reports to the National Board about identified risk and provide recommendations to manage the risks
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
- Previous case and risk management in a complex regulatory and/or high risk environment
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to exercise discretion on when to escalate a concern
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability in the development of reports including recommendations for Board review
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a small team environment and also show initiative and work independently with required
