Our client, a council based in Sydney Metro are seeking an experienced and qualified EHO for a temporary role.

The main duties of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Undertake regulation of all food businesses (including temporary food stalls and mobile food vehicles), skin penetration businesses, regulated systems (i.e cooling towers), sewage management facilities, pubic/semi public swimming pools,This includes inspection, enforcement, education, maintenance of register and administrative activities.
  • Assess environmental health issues associated with developments applications  and/or on-site sewage management (septic tanks)
  • Investigate and take further action as required to resolve all environmental health complaints and contact any involved parties using correspondence, phone calls and interviews to ensure a suitable resolution
  • Peruse correspondence, investigate and reply as required. Resolve such matters and if necessary prepare file notes, letters, notices, orders and reports with appropriate recommendations.
  • Prepare reports for consideration by Council as required.
  • Attend court as required; prepare evidence, photos, statements and samples for prosecution
The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health ) Degree or equivalent
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in applying environmental health related legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake Environmental Health related investigations and experience in gathering evidence
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in customer service, dealing with the public, resolving complaints, conflict resolution and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and interest in environmental health.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal) in English, including the ability to prepare letters, reports, notices, orders and make public presentations
  • Current Class C drivers licence
