We are currently seeking a Data Science professional to help us establish a new team and capability within our Asset Management department. Joining a growing organisation, on a significant Asset Management improvement journey, we are looking to fill a newly created role of Asset Data Scientist within the Asset Reliability & Performance team.

 

Working in a flexible and supportive team environment, this challenging but rewarding role will define, establish and imbed key tools and processes to support asset reliability and performance. You will introduce data driven technologies and techniques to manage, engineer, automate, model, analyse and visualise key asset data and information as we seek to optimise asset lifecycle costs while increasing performance.

 

Reporting to the Manager Reliability and Performance, the Data Scientist is responsible for the planning, collection, interpreting and maintenance of asset management information/data to increase reliability and performance of network assets and fleet. The role will analyse data sources, developing models and advise on asset trends, making sound recommendation on the efficient management of V/Line assets. Introducing and using industry standard ETL and business intelligence tools, the role will increase the dimensionality of models, solve complex problems and monitor performance initiatives.

 

This is a role is exciting opportunity to make your mark, with a level of freedom to implement new tools and processes to really make a difference within the company. You will also be working with various stakeholders the role will help improve data visualisation processes allowing data to be leverage for business decisions and reduce/minimize/optimise asset lifecycle costs while increasing performance. 


The successful candidate will be qualified in Engineering, Science or Business and preferably have experience in Asset Management or Asset Information Systems.  You will be methodical, analytical and systems focussed whilst being able to build trust and rapport with ease. Your aptitude to interpret and present data for non-technical people will be critical for this role. You will have sound interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to remain open minded and understand different ways of looking at things.

 

The salary for this position will be commensurate with experience. The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, national probity (police) check and medical examination in line with the National Standard for Health Assessment for Rail Safety Workers.
