Our Federal Government client is seeking an APS6 Strategic Policy Officer for a 6-month contract to help support the roll out of key ministerial and parliamentary services.
  
First People Recruitment Solutions want to hear from candidates who have previous experience in coordinating and facilitating the delivering of question time briefs to support ministers and senators, with experience in quality assurance and facilitating of ministerial correspondence also being highly regarded.

The Role
As the Strategic Policy Officer, you will support the team in ensuring that correspondence, briefing material, parliamentary documents, Estimates Committee briefs submitted to the Secretary/CDF and/or Minister’s Office are comprehensive, accurate, timely, consistent with previous material, government and internal policy and procedures/standards, has the appropriate level of approval and takes account of socio and political sensitivities.

The Officer will need to be agile and thrive in a high pressure, high volume work environment where diplomacy and judgement are paramount requirements, and where tight deadlines must be met.

The successful applicant will work with the Assistant Director to:

• Manage the morning question time brief process, liaising with the three Minister’s Offices, through the network of Departmental Liaison Officers, in accordance with the timeframes set by the Ministers' Offices
• Being the primary point of contact for the sixteen (internal) points of contacts to ensure that the Library of question briefs on Defence’s current strategic issues are up-to-date, and
• Monitoring other senate hearings for questions taken and/or issues that the Department may need to be aware of/called to respond to.

Must have previous experience in supporting the delivering ministerial and parliamentary services in a federal government agency.
