Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination

This is a NSW Health Category A position. All Category A applicants must read, understand and agree to comply with Policy Directive PD2011_005 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Diseases. Preferred applicants must provide evidence of protection against specified diseases prior to appointment and medical practitioner costs to determine protection is covered by the applicant.

Preferred applicants must also participate in a Pre-Employment Health Assessment (PEHA) prior to appointment.

What you'll be doing

The Prosthetist/ Orthotist is one of a team of clinicians and technicians located at the Hunter Prosthetics and Orthotics Service (HPOS) who provide services to patients within Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD).  The position is responsible for clinical assessment and provision of prosthetic/orthotic services to inpatient, outpatient and community clients within the area and for the provision of satellite services to Dubbo and Port Macquarie.  The position will work as part of a multidisciplinary team in the overall planning and implementation of patient services. HPOS is a registered provider for the National Disability Insurance Agency.

• Recognised tertiary qualification in Prosthetics and Orthotics deemed equivalent for eligibility for membership of the Australian Orthotics and Prosthetics Association.
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and practical skills in prosthetic/orthotic assessment and management.
• Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication and good interpersonal skills.
• Capacity to collaborate and liaise with health professionals in the Local Health District and other Government and non-Government organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to implement, monitor and evaluate client outcomes.
• Capacity to implement organisational guidelines and related policy and procedures.
• Capacity and willingness, including current NSW driver’s license, to travel to HealthShare NSW business and service locations throughout NSW.
