Purpose of the role
This is a staff specialist appointment to the Department of Surgery, specifically the specialty of Ophthalmology comprising outpatient and operating theatre sessions. You will ensure that Ophthalmology services provided by Rockhampton Hospital are of the highest standard and delivered in an efficient and effective manner given available resources.
What we are looking for?
- Extensive clinical experience with appropriate knowledge and skills extending across the range of practice in the specialty of Ophthalmology, with an ability to work in relative isolation, deliver quality specialist care to patients in a clinical setting including directing the process of assessment, admission, ongoing care, transfer and discharge of patients.
- Developed leadership skills and experience in contributing as a team member in a multidisciplinary approach to service provision.
- Proven commitment to leading and participating in an education program for clinical staff at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level, demonstrated ability to construct and/or maintain opportunities for research and education.
Key Qualifications /Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- RANZCO - Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists or eligibile to register.
- C Class motor vehicle licence

Senior Staff Specialist /Staff Specialist – (Opthalmology), Permanent (Full Time),(L18 – L27).
Total remuneration value up to $425,794 p.a., comprising salary between $204,543 – $216,865 p.a. (L25 to L27), or $389,431 p.a., comprising salary between $171,044 – $198,678 p.a. (L18 to L24);
