Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.

The Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS) is a multidisciplinary team that provides specialist mental health assessment and treatment services to prisoners at a number of public prison locations.

 

About the role:

The MobileFMHS Psychologist provides psychological assessment, intervention, mental health consultations and transitions/pre-release for prisoners with impaired mental health functioning at the Metropolitan Remand Centre. There is scope to provide individual and group programs to promote clients' mental health recovery, coping and functioning in custody.

This fixed-term position is an excellent opportunity for a P2 psychologist who is looking to gain experience working with a very interesting clinical population in a remand/sentenced prison environment.

 

Duties:

  • To provide psychological and diagnostic assessment
  • To deliver individual and group treatment programs with a mental health focus
  • To provide consultation to Corrections Victoria and other stakeholders to help support clients with impaired mental health functioning
  • To contribute towards further service development

 

Qualification, skills and experience:

  • Registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course of equivalent, OR Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent
