VACANCY REFERENCE NUMBER 0451/18

Applications are sought from candidates wishing to be considered for the role of Field Intelligence Officer with the Australian Federal Police, Specialist Operations portfolio, to fill a number of current and upcoming vacancies on a permanent and non-ongoing contract basis.

AFP Intelligence provides a single picture of crime impacting the Australian community, enabling the AFP to be intelligence informed in an increasingly complex and challenging criminal environment. Intelligence works to anticipate, prevent, disrupt and detect criminal activity by collecting, analysing, producing and disseminating intelligence which answers the who, what, where, when, how and why.

Field Intelligence Officers engage in the collection, collation and analysis of information to produce and disseminate tactical and operational intelligence in support of criminal investigations. They are agile and adaptable, able to operate in both the office and field environment, sometimes for extended periods of time in support of police operations. Field Intelligence Officers communicate with a range of stakeholders including police, state/territory and commonwealth government agencies, private industry and members of the public in order to achieve intelligence and operational outcomes, as per AFP guidelines.

Experience working in an intelligence and/or law enforcement environment, AND one (or more) degrees or further qualifications preferably from the following list or a relatable field, are essential requirements:

  • Criminology
  • Counter Terrorism
  • Security

As part of this training, successful applicants will also be required to attain the Diploma of Police Intelligence Practice within 12 months of their commencement date.
