Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes.

About the Legal team:

The role of the legal team in the Support Division is to provide legal services and support to senior management to manage risk and meet contractual and legislative obligations, and support scientists to enable them to effectively conduct research.  


Role Purpose/Responsibilities:

The role reports to the General Counsel and will form part of an existing team of experienced lawyers, providing advice across all areas, with a focus on commercial contracts, intellectual property, clinical trials and regulatory issues, as well as some property and procurement issues.

In addition the role will review, negotiate and draft a wide variety of contracts, grant and collaboration agreements, licenses, deeds and other commercial arrangements.

Further, this role will assist in formulation or amendment of relevant internal policies and pro-actively identify opportunities for process improvement and risk minimisation.


About You:

This position is ideal for an individual who is admitted to practise law in the state of Queensland and has at least 4-5 years post-admission experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and other transactional documents on a range of topics.

Excellent liaison and oral and written communication skills are essential.

Demonstrated ability to apply judgement and influence outcomes to manage risk effectively will be highly regarded, as will experience in a not-for-profit/medical research environment.
