THE POSITION: The primary focus of the Project Officer – Youth is to implement youth programs that address key areas of the Fairfield City Plan and Fairfield Youth Strategy. The position will coordinate the delivery of the NSW Government Funded the ‘Choose Life (Skills)’ youth skills building program in partnership with local community organisations between August 2018 and March 2019.

ESSENTIAL: 

  • Experience in community work in the related field
  • Experience in working with diverse communities, including ethnic, religious, language, cultural and other forms of diversity
  • Experience in community development, working collaboratively with government and non-government organisations
  • Experience in planning, report writing and project evaluation
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills; the ability to manage competing demands and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively relate to a wide range of people and facilitate training
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience in using computers (Word, Publisher, Excel)
  • Must  hold a Current Working With Children’s Check Number.

DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge of child and family services in the Fairfield Local Government Area
  • Experience in planning and implementing community events and programs
  • Understanding of, or experience in working in local government

SALARY & EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

  • Temporary position for a period of 8 months, 42 hours per fortnight
  • This position is a Grade 5, Entry Level - $38.30 per hour.
  • Flexible working hours are available.
