This is an exceptional opportunity for a Development Manager with 5 years + experience in property development to join the team of a key Sydney council with major and iconic developments in the pipeline.This local authority is one of the fastest growing areas of Sydney and will pay a key part of the city’s future.The role will be responsible for management of multi-faceted projects within the development portfolio and investment program.
Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, the Key Accountabilities of the role are:
  • Manage the overall development process through to completion
  • Lead, manage and report activities, including specific projects, on property development projects
  • Identify property development opportunities and prepare and present associated business cases
  • Prepare property development feasibility analysis for property development projects
  • Create, recommend and manage financial and budgetary requirements related to property development projects, including cash flow and budget forecasting
  • Create, recommend and manage programming requirements related to property development projects
  • Ensure project delivery methods and procurement are compliant with industry best practice and probity guidelines
  • Preparation and management of requests for approval including the drafting of Council reports, briefing notes and recommendations to management
  • Involvement in contract negotiations and management and administration of property development contracts/agreements
  • Manage the operational readiness process and ensure efficient and complete transfer/handover of completed development project back into the Council operations
To be successful in this role you will have the following experience and aptitudes:
  • Tertiary qualification in business, property development, finance and investment, construction or related degree
  • Minimum of 5 -10 years post graduate experience in property development
  • Experience in budgeting/reporting and cost management
  • Experience in a Project Management role with the property industry
  • Experience in or exposure to a local government or similar enterprises
  • Developed problem solving skills and proactive approach
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to think strategically with the capacity of lateral thinking creativity and problem solving
  • Strong project and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer focus and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A competitive salary package will be offered.  This role is based in Western Sydney close to trains and major transport links.  It is initially offered as a 2 year fixed term contract but there is excellent potential for career development.
