An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the National Transport Commission, a national regulatory and operational reform agency jointly funded by the Commonwealth, States and Territories. This organisation’s main objectives are to improve the productivity, safety and environmental outcomes for land transport in Australia.

The Senior Policy Analyst role sits within the Productivity and Safety team. The role reports to a Project Manager in the team. As a Senior Policy Analyst, your role involves researching and assisting across multiple and varied research and policy projects relating to the development and implementation of national reforms in road, rail and intermodal transport.

Your main accountabilities are:

  • Undertake research on specific issues, analyse data and prepare relevant reports. This may include engaging a variety of stakeholders and assisting in the preparation of research reports, policy papers and regulatory impact statements in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
  • Assist both Project Managers in the team to manage a portfolio of diverse projects and/or sub projects relating to the development and implementation of national reforms, in line with the NTC’s policies and processes
  • Provide advice on strategic and policy issues and share timely insights received from stakeholders through consultation with the team.

We are seeking candidates who have high degree of:

  • Self-sufficiency in project management tasks
  • Analytical and conceptual skills
  • Written communications skills
  • Microsoft computer skills.

An understanding of the road transport sector, freight and logistics, work health and safety, road safety or the principles of a safe system approach will be highly regarded but not essential.
