Working across the Lyell McEwin Hospital and Modbury Hospital, you will provide the pivotal coordination of patient care delivery within the Northern Aboriginal Birthing Program. This role has a dual focus including the line management, coordination and leadership of midwifery staff and multidisciplinary team activities to achieve continuity and quality of patient care and outcomes. You will apply your knowledge and experience to develop, implement and evaluate a framework in education which will focus on training Aboriginal Maternal Infant Care (AMIC) workers, transitioning AMIC practitioners and the ongoing professional development of the AMIC practitioners and midwives working with in the Northern Aboriginal Birthing Program, promoting capability building and professional development. You will accept accountability for the outcomes of midwifery practices in the specific practice setting, addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy, and developing team performance and a positive work culture in the interest of patient outcomes.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student Midwives, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses and Midwives. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing and midwifery care problems.

You will also bring the ability to build strong partnerships with Aboriginal staff to promote increased recognition and respect for Aboriginal families and workers.
