For over 50 years, Outcare has been the leading specialist provider in Western Australia, for people who come in contact with the justice system. Our key role has been to support people to live meaningful lives without crime.

The Role

The Community Inclusion Program is Outcare’s fastest growing program. You will be given the opportunity to provide a high standard of support, assistance and intervention to people with a disability who are living in their own homes. Our clients are under the care of the Department of child protection and family support. The role of a Youth/Case Worker is to provide therapeutic, holistic and person-centred support to individuals, by working with them to reach their individual goals.

Every day will be different in this highly diverse role as you advocate for some of society’s most vulnerable citizens in several unique ways. As well as developing our clients living skills, welfare needs, interpersonal skills, mental health, substance use issues and family connection. You will need to

build strong rapport and advocate on behalf of our clients in fulfilling their goals and ambitions. Working hours will vary depending on individual client requirements and will include weekend, evening and night shifts.

About you – Success in this role will require (Criteria):

  • A Certificate IV in Community Services/Disability Services or relevant/substantial experience in the Community/Disability Services field
  • Demonstrated experience working with people who may have disability, complex and challenging behaviors
  • Ability to communicate at all levels along with the knowledge and understanding of working with people from disadvantaged and diverse cultural groups
  • Prior relevant experience and understanding of the issues that may face people at risk
  • Clear understanding of working in a person-centered manner whilst being culturally appropriate

You will require:

  • Current full WA Drivers Licence
  • Current Working with Children’s check or the willingness to obtain one
  • Current Western Australian Police Clearance obtained within the previous 6 months
  • First Aid HLTAID003
  • Hepatitis B immunisation (or willing to be immunised)
  • Computer literate in word at a minimum

Employment will be subject to obtaining and maintaining security clearance by the Government of Western Australia, Department of Communities.
