The Department of Health is recruiting to fill a number of current and anticipated vacancies across the two legal branches but also wants to establish a merit list of suitable candidates to fill future vacancies within the Legal and Assurance Division over the next 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
Applications are sought from talented lawyers with experience in or the ability to quickly acquire the skill and knowledge in one or more areas of law relevant to the Division including:
• administrative law;
• litigation and dispute resolution;
• regulatory compliance;
• statutory interpretation;
• commercial law;
• employment law; and
• information access law.
Key Capabilities
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following qualities and capabilities:
- An ability to provide, under appropriate supervision, high quality legal services across the range of legal issues relevant to the portfolio.
- Demonstrated legal research, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated high standard of oral and written communication and client liaison skills.
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, work effectively under pressure and work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of the principles and practices of workplace diversity, workplace participation and a safe working environment.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Bachelor of law degree or equivalent.
- Admission as a legal practitioner in an Australian Court.
- Eligibility to hold a restricted Government practising certificate.
