About the role
Field officers supervise offenders at Community Work Sites and model appropriate behaviours to offenders. Acting as key role models in their work, field officers must represent the department in a professional and ethical manner at all times and promote the rehabilitative benefits of community work programs to offenders to enhance community safety.
You do not need to be experienced in working with the offender population. This role will cover the North West Metropolitan region based in reporting into Derrimut.
Days of work will be Sunday to Thursday.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Assess the audience and provide appropriately tailored and clear information and explanations to a range of groups, in an effective and confident manner, dealing with challenging behaviour firmly but politely.
- Build rapport with others in order to understand issues and suggest courses of action appropriate to their needs,
- Use logic-based persuasion in discussing based on concrete data to convince others, and negotiates on timelines for delivery of goods or services.
- Focus on understanding motivations of others, acknowledging emotions of others, and actively listening to clarify and defuse conflict situations and provide solutions.
