This appointment will be made at either a Senior Lawyer or Lawyer level, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

About the role:
You will appear as an advocate in family law, child protection and family violence casework, deliver services in the duty lawyer list and appear in contested matters in various courts to effectively advocate for legal aid clients. You will maintain a substantial caseload in complex family law, child protection and family violence matters, provide high quality legal advice and information to clients, and act as an Independent Children's Lawyer on behalf of children and young people involved in family law proceedings.

You will also supervise, train and mentor less experienced lawyers and participate in community legal education when required. You will assist in the development of strategies to improve family law related client services in the Central Highlands region and participate in stakeholder engagement and working groups.

About you:
You will have substantial knowledge and practical experience in the areas of family law, family violence and child protection with the capacity to work as an advocate and caseworker. You will have high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive professional relationships and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and clients at all levels.

You will have the capability to supervise and mentor staff, initiate and implement policies to enhance the delivery of our services and work collaboratively within a team. You will also have a developed understanding of external organisations, community groups and the important role they play in legal aid services.
