Queensland Rail currently has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Technical and NDT professional to support our Network Services Infrastructure Planning Team in based in Toowoomba.  The role is required to complete non-destructive testing of rail welds and turnout components in accordance with Civil Engineering Track Standards for Regional West district with technical requirements relating to all rail infrastructure related issues.

We are looking for an experienced Technical and NDT professional to support our Network Services Infrastructure Planning Team in based in Toowoomba.

This critical position is to assist the Infrastructure Planning team with technical requirements relating to all rail infrastructure including but not limited to non-destructive rail/turnout testing

Position Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical investigations and provide technical advice relating to Rail infrastructure related issues.
  • Develop appropriate technical and safety specifications, procedures, work instructions, processes and manuals for all aspects of track construction and maintenance as required.
  • Participate in incident investigations and technical track audits as required.
  • Undertake non-destructive testing of rail welds and turnout components. Classify, size and report on rail defects found and submit reports on testing outcomes. Produce manual ultrasonic testing program to carry out manual ultrasonic, magnetic particle and liquid penetrant rail testing without direct supervision in response to:

    • Aluminothermic welding activity
    • Rail damage from derailments
    • Electrical arc maintenance welding activity
    • Specified proactive testing and retesting strategies in accordance with the requirements if Civil Engineering Track Standards (STD/0077/TEC).
  • Input all defects identified into the EAMS system.
  • Use Category 3 driver skills and non-destructive testing knowledge to supervise and pilot contracted automated non-destructive test vehicle within boundaries of Regional West district. Must supervise contractor on behalf on Queensland Rail.

 

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • 20300281 Nat Drv Lic C (Qld A < 09.04.96)
  • 40010605 G_Diploma Civil Engineering (or higher)

  • Conduct technical investigations and provide technical advice relating to rail infrastructure related issues

This is a Permanent Full time position, starting salary $88,000 plus Superannuation
