The position of Senior Policy Officer forms a part of the Resources division, Earth Resources Policy and Programs branch within the Employment, Investment and Trade group.
The Senior Policy Officer is part of a team in the Policy and Legislation Reform Unit within the Earth Resources Policy and Programs branch. The primary purpose of the position is to support the development of contemporary policy, regulatory design and legislative reforms for earth resources to enable investment and generate jobs through the development of the State's resources, while protecting public safety and the environment.
The position provides advice to the Department's Executive and the Minister for Resources, based on the analysis of the social, economic and environmental factors relevant the earth resources sector, including engagement with industry stakeholders, community leaders and other agencies.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division.
