 The opportunity
 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer be a part of the Major works team within Sydney Trains. The position plays a key role in Supporting Condition Monitoring project delivery by leading Systems Engineering and Engineering Assurance activities for high complexity projects within a multidisciplinary environment to ensure that the overall integrated system solution meets business needs in a timely manner.

We are looking for an experienced professional who has minimum of three years’ experience in practical application of Systems Engineering methodologies across system development life-cycle stages from requirements analysis to verification and validation. The ideal candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in the field of either Systems Engineering or Engineering Assurance.  Upholding strong oral/written communication skills, including the ability to prepare detailed technical specifications/documents and providing briefing to both technical and non-technical audience approach is a key requisite!

Ideally, you will come from a background in transport, defence, aviation, oil & gas or other heavy industries and have the following fundamental skill sets:

• A thorough knowledge of Systems Engineering frameworks, processes, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools with SysML

• Develop business requirement specs, system requirement specs

• Develop Operational Concept Description (OCD) and maintenance concept definition (MCD)

• Develop RVTM, requirements management plan, system assurance plan, configuration management plan and verification and validation plan

• Review requirements coverage, conduct gap analysis, and perform design validation

• Technical review from systems assurance perspective and produce systems assurance reports and risk assessment report

• Demonstrated experience in system stewardship role providing engineering assurance and recommendations covering both technical and non-technical aspects (e.g. commercial, contracts, maintenance) of the system.

• Recent experience with an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO), Asset Standards Authority (ASA), in transport, defence or aviation industries is desirable
