Do you have the “backbone” to take on a leadership role which will help set the long-term strategic vision for invasive species research?

What's on Offer:

As a Manager Invasive Species Research with the Department of Primary Industries, you’ll be:

  • Taking the step from researcher to leader of a world-class research team
  • Providing academic and managerial direction within both the Vertebrate Pest Research Unit and Weed Research Unit
  • Earning from $121,917 per annum (plus superannuation) and 17.5% leave loading
  • Part of the Biosecurity & Food Safety Division
  • Using your experience in a role that offers autonomy, vision and growth

 
What You’ll Do:

  • Lead, manage and coordinate the Vertebrate Pest Research Unit (VPRU) and the Weed Research Unit (WRU)
  • Identify and develop the vision and direction for your team, encouraging a collaborative work environment
  • Represent NSW DPI on senior research policy and technical committees
  • Lead, facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of invasive plant and animal research objectives at state and national levels
  • Engage in writing and in person with various audiences on a local, state and national level
  • Negotiate with external funding organisations and internal and external project collaborators
  • Ensure appropriate grant funding is achieved, research remains relevant and is aligned to state and national priorities


What You’ll Have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Agriculture, Science, Natural Resources or equivalent
  • Demonstrated research experience and performance in a relevant field, with the drive and vision to take the step up to a leadership and management role
  • A current NSW Driver Licence
