 About the branch

The Regional Victoria Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Regional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Service delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action Plan and the requirements of the Division's State-wide fire and emergency role and in partnership with community and government agencies.

About the role

The Lightstation Officer will deliver in commercial operations and park services as directed by the Manager to enable efficient and effective delivery at a district level in accordance with the Regional Action Plan. The position will be accountable for the delivery of on the ground works at Point Hicks Lightstation and provision of response for emergency situations and field delivery support of environmental projects.  The Lightstation Officer will be adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements to ensure superior park management services are achieved at all times.

In this role you will be responsible for:

As a Lightstation Officer you will deliver specified in-park services at our Point Hicks Lightstation, this role will see you actively participate as a part of a team on the delivery of in park services including customer service, environmental works and general maintenance of the grounds. You'll bring with you a customer focus approach and seek to understand the needs of visitors to the park and other organizational stakeholders.  You'll also get to be involved with hosting visitors, providing tours and interpretation of the precinct area. The lighthouse also has accommodation and this role will see you checking in and out guests, cleaning rooms and ensuring a positive stay for guests and responding to any issues that may arise in a timley manner.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Natural Resource Management and/or equivalent experience in a similar field
  • Plant, chainsaw and machinery operation experience
  • Trade related skills
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
