Directorate and Unit Overview
The Community Services Unit sits within the Community and Commercial Services Directorate, along with these business Units:
- Customer Service
- Parking Services
- Commercial Parking
- Library
- Health & Activity Approvals
- Community Amenity and Safety
The Community Services Unit is responsible for the provision of community services and programs in a sustainable manner; that make a difference and improve outcomes and experiences of residents, workers and visitors of our City.
The Unit is also responsible for the following facilities:
- Citiplace Community Centre
- Citiplace Child Care Centre
- Perth Town Hall
- Citiplace Rest Centre
- iCity Kiosk
Committed to the City’s stakeholders, the Unit also leads and advocates the development of strategic partnerships; the building of capacity and empowerment within our community; and the sustainability of decisions and actions that impact on the various cohorts within our community.
Position Objectives
To develop and implement projects and programs that promote and strengthen the Aboriginal Community in the City, in alignment with the needs of the City’s stakeholders now and into the future; and to achieve the strategic objectives of the City as a capital city.
To ensure successful delivery of the strategies and related projects by working collaboratively and strategically with the needs of the City's stakeholders responding to current and emerging trends.
Provide professional advice on the specific areas of Community Development, in particular the area of Reconciliation, Aboriginal Culture, Aboriginal Engagement and in line with community development principles and best practice.
Develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders through appropriate engagement to address complex issues associated within this positions portfolio.
