Community Support Advisors - up to 36 hours per week
Your new organisation
Hays are proud to partner with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to supply experienced Community Support Advisors - a key health initiative that aims to promote health a wellbeing amongst the veteran community
Your new role
- Support the delivery of existing social health programs such as Men’s Health Peer Education, Veterans’ Health Week, 10K Steps Challenge, Day Clubs, Cooking for one or two and other community, recreation and social health initiatives.
- Provide advice, plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs and initiatives, to assist DVA to fulfil its commitments to the DVA Social Health Strategy 2015-2023.
- As required, review and develop resources for existing social health programs and to assist DVA clients to implement/support social health initiatives in their community.
- Provide assistance, as required, to ex-service and community organisations to develop applications for Veteran & Community Grants
- Liaise with DVA’s internal and external stakeholders by attending DVA meetings, meetings with ex-service organisations and other community agencies
- Travel as required to engage with relevant stakeholders to promote the efficiency of the program.
What you'll need to succeed
Relevant experience in the public service, events or facilitated training/workshops. Professional skills in one or more of the following areas: Volunteer Management, Health Promotion and Community Development and a minimum of 2 years’ experience is required and a relevant tertiary qualifications is also desirable. Furthermore, an understanding of the mental and social health needs for the veteran and ex-service community will support your application
